Celebrating National Homeownership Month

June 21, 2021 – June is National Homeownership month, and People Self Help Housing (PSHH) and Frontier Housing sponsored a mini-build to raise public awareness of the benefits of homeownership. On June 21, 2021 staff from both organizations, as well as local government officials and representatives from USDA Rural Development participated in the build. More than 50 folks joined together and raised their hammers in support of housing in Rural Kentucky.

National Homeownership Month celebrates the benefits of homeownership for both the homeowner and the community as a whole: “Homeownership is one of the bedrocks of the American Economy, helping to increase jobs, boost demand for goods and services, and build prosperity.” (National Homeownership Month 2005: A Proclamation by the President of the United States of America). Ken Slone, USDA Rural Development State Director, spoke to the large crowd about the importance of partnership to make affordable housing a priority in Kentucky.

PSHH serves families in Lewis County. For more information on their programs, call Dave Kreher at 606-796-6333. For more information on Frontier’s program, click here.
