The City of Morehead, Community Housing Partners and Frontier Housing Break Ground on Boodry Place, honoring the service of former board member Glenn Boodry.
Frontier Housing Board Chairman, Frank Olson welcomed the crowd, including local community members, investors and supporters. Mayor Brad Collins introduced Patsy Boodry, the Guest Speaker who honored her late husband, Glenn Boodry in his commitment to Frontier Housing where he served as board member for more than 15 years. Glen, a civil engineer always stood by his motto, “Build it to Last”. Boodry Place is a fitting name for the wonderful addition to the community, serving the elderly and children with disabilities. The Boodry family was in attendance and looks forward to the “grand opening” next year.
Mark Offerman, Kentucky Housing Corporation Chief Officer shared his commitment of funding for the project and how the Corporation had funded other affordable housing initiatives in the community. Mr. Offerman was joined by Don Ball, Chairman of the Kentucky Housing Corporation Board who also pledged his commitment to special needs projects.
Janaka Casper, FAHE Chairman of the Board and Community Housing Partners CEO/President shared how the project emerged as a part of the Berea Performance Compact and our commitment to working together in a thoughtful collaboration to leverage expertise and resources.
Boodry Place is a result of the Berea Performance Compact, a FAHE-member group led initiative to change how we do business by collaborating our resources and expertise to work among 45 nonprofits in 4 Central Appalachian States. Community Housing Partners brought their multi-family development, architectural, and construction expertise to Frontier, while Frontier worked with state and local officials to access funding. Community Housing of Winchester brings the local rental and asset management expertise to the Kentucky partnership. The Kentucky Equity Fund is managed by FAHE Capital.
